EDUCATION; a privilege or a right?

Adam Momaya: I would say that basic education (through high school) should be a right, but from there on it becomes a privilege.

Helen Zafar: Its a right for all children to be educated so they get jobs .

Peggy Sandefer: It depends on the country the child lives in and the child's family's economic status. In most western countries I think it has come to be seen as a right. Even for the people who earn very little. For 2 reasons 1. It is the law and2. Everyone goes to school. Even if they do home school or go to an alternative school. In some of the less well off countries where there are not enough schools or teachers, too many students and not enough money. I think it is still seen as a privelege. As not all the families can afford to send their child to school and in some cases the children are the ones who are earning the money.Even in these countries though if the family can afford to send the child to school, they tend to try to keep them in school at lea! st for primary school.Higher education for many people is still seen as a privelege either through the amount of money it costs or the marks you need to get in to it....Show more

Roland Stampley: Well it's the law to go to schoolbut i have to say that in some cases it's a riight and others a privilege bcuz money and poverty can get in the way of education.but the mind does also
