Can the Government provide home schooling?

Lu Snide: No, the government doesn't homeschool you. Those physically incapable of coming to school for medical reasons can get home-bound education but it's usually temporary (like recovering from an injury). If you're not happy w/your public school you can look into charter schools or public online programs. What knowledge does your mom think she needs to homeschool you? She doesn't have to know everything and tell it to you. She can use books, assign you research, let you watch educational DVDs, get a tutor for a subject if she wants-- homeschooled doesn't mean your parents have to stand in front of the kitchen table and tell you everything you need to know, it means they oversee that you learn what you need to know....Show more

Magda Vandergriend: In some states, there are online charter public charter schools. These aren't (independent) homeschooling, where you sever ties with the public schools. But they are schooling at home. You do your classes online. Cu! rrently there are no public charter virtual schools in NY. There is one private online school that is Ok'd by the NY board of Ed. You could also do independent homeschooling.

Stephnie Patout: Um. The very DEFINITION of homeschooling is rejection of state (government-provided) education. So, no, the government cannot and will not provide home schooling. As I understand it, NY is a difficult state to homeschool in due to the number of regulations.

Morris Olexy: Same prob. No the government cant do that, they provide public school. I just started freshmen and live in ny and I just. I cant even... So im looking into k12 which is online free homeschooling and I believe its available in ny

Magda Vandergriend: Take a look at this for your home schooling this is free check out their web page, this was released on the 6th September 2012, so it's up to date, it for students 3yrs through to universityhttp://edubuntu.org
