Marvella Benward: You should start by reading any directions on your laundry detergent and your washer and dryer. As for separating, I usually make three loads, dark colors, light colors and non-cotton whites, and cotton whites. Most clothing has tags with washing instructions on them that recommend a temperature and cycle.

Tillie Wynott: Separate your darks (like jeans and dark shirts) from you whites (like underwear, socks and white shirts) you may have another load of lightly soiled wash and wear colorf! ul clothes. This will give you 3 loads. Wash the darks in cold water. Wash the whites in hot/warm water. Wash the other load in cold water. To start a load, select the water temperature and the size of he load. Turn the washer on, add a capful of soap. When the washer is done filling, add clothes. Pay attention, when the rinse cycle starts put in a little fabric softener. Do the same with the other two loads.NOTE: if you have any stains or gunk, put a little soap on it before you wash it.As soon as a load is completely finished, put them into the drier. Choose the correct setting (usually regular drying cycle). It will buzz when it's done. Remove from the drier immediately and either hang or fold the clean clothing. It's no biggie.
