How do i go about renting a house?

Von Houskeeper: I'm not for rent.

Leora Klingelhoets: Your partner may be able to rent but you will not, unless your partner is your legal Guardian, or your parents sign off on it. 18 is pretty much the age of majority, with a few states being higher. I would not want to get into a legal problem by renting to someone underage. The last thing I need is your parents or guardians showing up and suing me for being complicit in some guardianship/kidnapping /statutory rape dispute. The only way I'd even CONSIDER allowing you as a tenant is if your parents/guardians came and signed on as guarantors, signing a legal document that states you have their permission to be living on your own and they acknowledge that you are doing what you are doing. And then I'd have a lawyer go over it to make sure that my azz is covered. Back to your question. You would use co-workers, managers, and long term friends (adults) as references. If you don't have rental references, some landl! ords may not have a problem with this.Edit: Are you in the UK? Unless this is broken again, you need to state that you are in the UK and post from the UK website. When you post from UK Answers, your answers get tagged as being from the UK. http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/In the US, you are not emancipated unless you have a court document saying such. I wouldn't touch a minor without this or direct parental consent. Your partner's mum signing on as a guarantor is good since you probably don't have the income requirements, but it doesn't fulfill any legal issues. Age of majority in the UK is still 18. You cannot legally enter into legal contracts....Show more

Salvatore Walls: I have been fully independant since i was 14 and my parents dont support me in anyway.

Coleen Carignan: My partner mum said she would sign on as a garentor.
